What Started as a passion, Developed to a business.
‘‘From a very young age, I was always outdoors, I was taught the values of nature and the importance of stewardship and the role we play in having a symbiotic relationship with the land around us. Hunting and fishing was a common past time for me, Its was an important part of our lives, not only for food, but for the land itself.
I always had an attentiveness for taxidermy, the preservation of hides and the somewhat, primitive practices. For me taxidermy was not a trophy, It is a way to preserve the stunning beauty of mother natures work, a way to share these species with others who may not otherwise bear witness to it, and a way of teaching and learning.
I was raised with strict moral values when it came to hunting, the welfare of the quarry, and the ethicality of my practices. We were raised to only take what is needed, and waste none, So hide tanning and skull preservation was an important part for me. Not only was it my way of ensuring as little went to waste, It was also my way of keeping a physical part of that moment in time.
Tucked away in my garden shed is where I began, processing hides and skulls that I had harvested. After quite some time, lots of learning, and many failed attempts, I was finally creating hides and skulls that I was proud of. Mostly this was all personal, but after I had assimilated myself with the processes, and felt somewhat confident, I began to process items for close friends and relatives, and slowly, this grew, and grew, getting further afield to where we are today!

Do I need a Special permit or licence to purchase/own taxidermy?
A large amount of taxidermy can be purchased and owned legally without any licence or permit. There are certain species that do require a special permit or certificate for you to legally own such as CITIES A10 certificate for a number of Birds of Prey, This ensures legal ownership and confirms the species was acquired legally. This certificate should be supplied to you with that particular animal, by the seller. Always purchase from reputable suppliers and do your own due-diligence prior to purchase.
